1977/78 United States, set of 56 "cards".
Sugar free gum wrappers really aren't cards, but most collectors still consider these a valid vintage "card" set. Released in 1977/78, sticks of sugar free gum were wrapped in "movie photo pin-ups". The wrappers are a little larger than standard trading cards, and on a very thin paper stock They will generally have a small tear used to facilitate opening the gum, except for examples that were never actually used for gum wrappers (which are fairly common among serious collectors). There are a total of 56 different "cards", with (4) different wrapper fronts.
There are 7 different subsets of 8 cards within this set of 56, and typically a box of the gum would only contain wrappers from one of the subsets. That means, that in general a minimum of 7 boxes would have to be opened to complete the set.
Pictured are one of the subsets in high res, all 4 wrapper fronts, the remaining subsets in lower res, the cardboard box that contained the 36 packs of gum, an unfolded foil wrapper that would have covered the cardboard box to seal in the freshness, scans of two of these uncut from the original strip, and a couple that are PSA graded.
WANTS FROM THIS SET: None.
