TR-06 The GC5 "Buy American" 7"

The GC5 were the first band selected by Transparent Records for a release, that sent a demo and were not actually personal acquaintances. Chuck Lambert, a friend of the band, had sent the demo. Chuck was very persistent, the demo was incredible, the band was fairly close (Cleveland Ohio), and the timing was perfect. For this release, the band had a hook-up with a really good printer so they did the sleeves and Transparent Records did the vinyl. Half of the sleeves were swapped for half of the vinyl by mail, and the job of advertising and selling was split. In retrospect, this is musically the best release that Transparent Records did on vinyl and was sold out very quickly. The GC5 went on to be one of the best street punk bands in America for several years, putting out many more releases including a "Singles Collection" CD that reprinted the songs on this single.
